Editorial
As this turbulent year draws to its close, we pause to remember with gratitude the lives of our friends and colleagues Joan Vila-Grau and the Revd. Gordon Plumb.
We also bring you two fascinating and thought-provoking articles. David Critchley sheds new light on the iconography of William of Wykeham’s late fourteenth-century glazing for Winchester College, preserved now as an early nineteenth-century copy, but of abiding interest as a key monument of late medieval episcopal patronage. Nick Teed’s article showcases research undertaken at the York Glaziers Trust into the accurate photographic capture of the true colour of stained glass.
As we look ahead to the Christmas and New Year holidays, Virginia Raguin alerts Vidimus readers to a richly illustrated exploration of the over 170-year history of the Van Treeck studio in Munich – something to add to Christmas reading list!
The next issue of Vidimus will appear in February 2023 – please get in touch if you have research or news to share.
With warmest best wishes from the Vidimus team:
Sarah Brown, Carlotta Cammelli, Christopher Parkinson, Melissa Polkey
