Editorial

Dear Readers,

Welcome back! And welcome to another bumper issue.

Our News page includes reports of the conservation of the fourteenth-century ‘Jesse Tree’ scheme at Wells Cathedral, updates about conferences and exhibitions across Europe and links to a super new website highlighting the intriguing windows at Frankfurt (Oder).

Our Panel of the Month examines the sumptuous mid fifteenth-century glazing of the Beauchamp chapel in Warwick – truly glass for a medieval millionaire! Our double Feature bill includes a well illustrated review of an exhibition about Renaissance glass in Chartres and an exclusive interview with Rolf Hasler about his superb new Corpus Vitrearum study of glass painters in the northern Swiss city and canton of Schaffhausen between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Our Books page takes a broad look at the glazing of Westminster Abbey Chapter House and some attractive local studies about stained glass in the Bromsgrove area of England and of Augustus Pugin’s own church in Ramsgate (Kent).

Two other points. We are having problems communicating with USA readers who have email accounts with bellsouth.net. Every email we post is blocked as spam. We cannot even reply to subscribers. Apologies to those affected, but it’s not our fault.

Finally, we have added a new link to our site – the Centre International du Vitrail in Chartres. This is a great place to visit. Don’t miss it!

Best wishes
