Editorial

Thank you to readers who contacted us with views on the new Vidimus. In response to your comments we have introduced a printer-friendly option for all articles. We have also set up a link (on the Back Issues page) to all earlier issues of Vidimus. This will stay in place until we have loaded all back issues onto the new website.

This month brings news of the original chapter house glazing at Rievaulx Abbey, the death of master glazier Harry Harvey and the recreation of a medieval cartoon at St Michael’s Church, Thornhill. See the diary at the end of the news section for an up to date listing of events and exhibitions.

This issue’s Panel of the Month – a mysterious virgin martyr from St Clement’s Church, Outwell (Norfolk) – has been contributed by Claire Daunton, who recently completed her PhD at the University of East Anglia.

The Feature takes the form of a picture essay on some unusual angels from Oxfordshire, written by our indefatigable news and features editor, Roger Rosewell. Roger also reviews a major new book – with much to interest stained glass historians – on fourteenth-century church monuments.
