In 2019 the Borthwick Institute for Archives at the University of York, assisted by the Terry Trust, York Glaziers Trust and the Friends of the Library and Archive, acquired the personal notebook of the fifteen-year old William Peckitt (1731-95) who was to become York’s most celebrated glass-painter of the eighteenth century (https://www.york.ac.uk/news-and-events/news/2019/research/university-acquires-stained-glass-painter-notebook/).
The hand-sewn notebook, containing Peckitt’s notes on colour mixing, maths, science and language learning, has now been conserved and digitised and can be read online in high resolution:

His majestic figures from the south transept of York Minster (Fig. 1) are currently undergoing conservation and will be reinstalled with the benefit of ventilated environmental protective glazing.
